About Deborah Howland-Murray

Trained at the School of Visual Arts, I believe in their philosophy that style comes from within, rather than being imposed on the work.  As a result, I represent my subjects in a straitforward manner.  My goal is to capture the personality that makes each of them, whether walking upright or on all fours, a unique individual.

I have had a varied career, spanning such diverging worlds as illustration, diversity education, and teaching in southeastern India.  Portraiture has stolen my heart for the last fifteen years.  I enjoy poses that are as candid and true to the everyday life of the individual as possible.
